Cryptography changed a lot over the past 30 years. This lecture gives a personal point of view on the different facets of cryptography. We will give a review of the IDEA, discuss Public-Key cryptosystems, the necessity for hybrid systems, cryptographic protocols for key-exchange, the need for hash functions and a survey of the field of application for Zero Knowledge protocols.
