The presentation gives a brief introduction to current cryptographic voting protocols. First the steps of a traditional election are explained in order to provide a better understanding of the requirements for an electronic one. Two voting protocols are outlined in detail and their limitations, risks and fields of application are explained. In the end a summary of an analysis of a voting machine developed by the company Diebold is given. In addition some social and juristic aspects of voting are also discussed.
