The lecture will cover the diploma of the speaker, which was done in 2005. The Diploma was titeld "Securing the access to network services of the University of applied sciences Düsseldorf (Fachhochschule Düsseldorf)".
Basically it consists of 3 topics:
- The analysis of the network services in terms of plaintext communication and the access to the network itself (WLAN security), followed by recommendations for improving network security.
- Participation in the PKI pilot project DFN-PKI-2 of the DFN (Deutsches Forschungsnetz/ German Research Network).
- Securing and extending existing network services by the use of a VPN Service based on SSL and X.509 certificates.
